Avon Cub Scout Pack 26 was chartered by the Avon Rotary Club in 1944 and has been very active ever since. The Pack usually has between 50 - 60 boys active each year, many of which go on to become Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts. Generations of American men have participated in and benefited from Cub Scouting in Avon, and the experience of serving more a thousand participants over more than a half-century has enabled us to make our Pack one of the most exciting and rewarding programs available to Avon families. Our Pack makes sure that the boys have fun, while parents see that the Pack teaches them positive values and skills that will last a lifetime.

The Pack actively participates in several Council and District activities, including Cub Winter Fun Day in Letchworth State Park where members of our Pack were featured in a Boy's Life article written about the event (Boy's Life is the National magazine for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts). The Pack has monthly activities that include an annual overnight event and several camping opportunities to give the young boys a respect for the outdoors and to encourage them to continue on to Boy Scouts.

The Cub Scout program in Avon is strong, and the Club is proud to have chartered the Pack for over 60 years.

Avon Boy Scout Troop 26 was originally chartered in 1933 by the American Legion post in Avon. In 1944 the Avon Rotary Club took over the charter and has been the Troop's sponsor ever since. In 1949 the Avon Rotary Club obtained an old one-room school house to be used by the Troop as their "Scout House", and in 2006 the Club dedicated the Scout House in memory of Harold "Sonny" Cole Jr., an Avon Rotarian for 51 years and a past Scoutmaster for the Troop.

The Troop has been extremely active during its tenure, sending boys to National Jamborees, Philmont Scout Ranch, and numerous other High Adventure expeditions. The Troop especially loves to canoe and currently owns 7 canoes that are used several times a year in rivers and lakes around the area. Since its inception the Troop has produced 58 Eagle Scouts, and currently 4 boys are poised to earn the coveted rank.

The Troop exemplifies the high ideals and morals promoted by Rotary, and the Club is proud to have chartered such a respected and revered organization for over 60 years.
